ABOUT US
LifeLine counselors are highly trained licensed professionals with advanced degrees. All have a minimum of twelve years experience which includes extensive work in their specialty areas. Their collective experience includes teaching in university graduate and undergraduate programs and service as directors and administrators of clinical programs.

 

Joy Carroll, Executive Director, Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Carroll is a psychologist with nearly thirty years clinical experience in private practice and church affiliated settings. Her practice emphases include pediatric and adult mood disorders, spiritual issues, relationships and parent-child relationships. For eighteen years, she served as adjunct faculty for colleges and universities where teaching responsibilities included training and supervision of graduate counseling interns. Joy leads classes and seminars and provides professional development training for mental health professionals and educators.

 

Joy received her doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University.

Brenda-Lee Duarte, Assistant Executive Director, Licensed Professional Counselor
Ms. Duarte is an LPC and National Certified Counselor with seventeen years experience as a clinician and administrator. Her practice focus is children, adolescents and adults addressing such issues as pediatric mental health, sexual abuse, parenting, and relationships. She works with military families and veterans dealing with deployment and reunification. Brenda was previously Program Director and Regional and State Clinical Director for Camelot Care Centers, Inc. and Director of CASE (Court Appointed Special Advocate).

 

Brenda received her masters degree in Counseling from Boston University.

Carla V. Winchester, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Ms. Winchester is an LCSW with thirteen years experience in the mental health field. Her clinical experience includes work with adults, children, adolescents and families. She has served as a behavioral consultant for children at risk of expulsion form preschool or kindergarten. Carla has supervised other therapists working with children and families in a variety of settings. Her practice focus includes marital and blended family concerns, sexual and physical abuse, relationships, mood disorders and pediatric behavioral issues.

 

Carla earned her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.

Megan Rapien, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Ms. Rapien is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with twelve years experience in the mental health field. Her clinical experience includes work with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and families. She has worked in a variety of settings, including serving as a clinical supervisor to therapists working in an inpatient behavioral health unit. Her practice focus includes family and relationship/marital issues, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, senior/later life issues, chronic health concerns, and adolescent behavioral issues.

 

Megan earned her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee.

Victoria, Pet-Assisted Therapy Dog
Victoria is a Golden Retriever with a wonderful gentle, loving personality. She loves for children and adults to put their arms around her and give big hugs. Victoria helps Dr. Joy Carroll work with selected children and adults. Victoria is training to be certified to work in schools, nursing homes, and hospital settings.

Sherwood, Pet-Assisted Therapy Dog
Sherwood is a registered Yorkshire Terrier who assists LifeLine Counselor Brenda Duarte when she works with selected children and adults. Sherwood loves his work and is especially fond of children. He is a good listener and helps them feel comfortable talking about feelings and troubling situations in their lives.

Ollie, Pet-Assisted Therapy Dog
Ollie is a small Lab/Daschound mix assisting LifeLine Counselor Carla Winchester with selected children and adults. Ollie is a rescue dog with a big heart. He is very intuitive, loves to be petted and helps clients relax and feel safe enough to share.
